University of Detroit Mercy's women's tennis team played another road match Friday afternoon and fell by a score of 5-2 to University of Toledo at the Laurel Hill Tennis Club.

For the second time this season, freshman Victoria Baca (Quito, Ecuador/El Sauce) and sophomore Erin Weldon (Kalamazoo, MI/Mattawan) were paired up for doubles competition and ended up defeating Silvia Carvajal and Melissa Reynolds, 8-7 (2), at the No. 3 slot.

Weldon continued to have success in singles as she played at No. 5 and won by scores of 6-3 and 6-2 against Carvajal. Senior Svetlana Flankova (Riga, Latvia/Riga Secondary 21) also won her match-up in singles as she played at the No. 4 spot and defeated Nadia Zoubareva, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.

The Titans return to action when they travel the short distance to Bowling Green, OH, on Feb. 12 to face the Falcons at 7 p.m. Two days later, Detroit returns home and will host Cincinnati at 4 p.m.
