Detroit Takes 6-1 Victory Over IUPUI

Final Match Results

INDIANAPOLIS - The Titan's men's tennis team won the doubles point for the second straight contest and third time in the last four matches en route to a 6-1 defeat over IUPUI earlier this evening.

With the victory, in the first match of its three-game weekend road trip, Detroit moved to 2-5 overall on the dual season.

Four sophomores combined to earn the doubles point for Detroit. Pablo Nunez San Jose, Costa Rica/Educacion Abierta) and Alex Latosinsky (Sarnia, ON/St. Christopher's) won 9-7 at the No. 2 spot while Cesar Escobar Serrano (Merliot, El Salvador/Education) and Chris Cheung (Mississauga, ON/Erindale) won their fourth straight match together with an 8-3 victory at No. 3.

Singles brought the remaining five points for Detroit as Latosinsky won 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 2, and at No. 3 Cheung came out on top in the third set with scores of 5-7, 6-4, and 7-5.

Serrano won 6-1, 6-1 in straight sets at No. 4 and Nunez won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5. Finally, junior David Stabley (Shelby Township, MI/Eisenhower) won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6 to complete the scoring for the Titans.

Detroit will stay on the road for tomorrow's contest at IPFW scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
