FINAL MATCH RESULTS
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Detroit won its second straight match with a 6-1 victory over IPFW on Saturday.
The Titans won in similar fashion to yesterday's 6-1 victory over IUPUI taking the doubles point, for the third straight match and fourth time in the last five outings, and five out of six singles' match-ups.
With the victory, the Titans moved to 3-5 overall on the dual season and have captured two wins in the first two matches of the current three-game weekend road trip.
It was the sophomores who took home the doubles point again for Detroit.
Pablo Nunez San Jose, Costa Rica/Educacion Abierta) and
Alex Latosinsky (Sarnia, ON/St. Christopher's) won 8-6 at the No. 2 spot while
Cesar Escobar Serrano (Merliot, El Salvador/Education) and
Chris Cheung (Mississauga, ON/Erindale) won their fifth straight match together with an 8-4 victory at No. 3.
Detroit earned all five of its singles wins in straight sets with the No. 6 match-up being forced to a tiebreaker in the second and final set. Junior
Nick Tolomei (Rochester, MI/Adams) won at No. 2, Serrano at No. 3, Cheung at No. 4, Nunez at No. 5, and Stabley at No. 6. Stabley was victorious 6-2, 7-6 (7-3).
Detroit will conclude its road trip Sunday against Chicago State in a match that will be at IPFW with a start time of 8:00 a.m.
