Men's Tennis Continues Horizon League Play Saturday

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- The Detroit Titans wrapped up their two-match weekend with another Horizon League contest as the Titans welcomed Butler to the Franklin Athletic Club.

Detroit fell 5-2 as sophomore's Chris Cheung (Mississauga, ON/Erindale) and Cesar Escobar Serrano (Merliot, El Salvador/Education) fell 8-6 in doubles bringing a streak of eight straight doubles wins together to an end.

Another Titan pairing continued a streak as junior's Nick Tolomei (Rochester, MI/Adams) and David Stabley (Shelby Township, MI/Eisenhower) won their second straight match playing at No. 3 doubles. The duo won by the same 8-6 score as Friday night against Wright State.

Detroit's two points both came in singles as Serrano and sophomore Pablo Nunez (San Jose, Costa Rica/Educacion Abierta) each won their matches in straight sets. Serrano played at No. 4 winning 6-3, 6-2 and Nunez played at No. 5 with scores of 6-1, 6-2.

The Titans now sit at 4-8 overall and 0-2 in the Horizon League.

This week, Detroit will head back to the road for its next matches. On Friday, the Titans will play at UIC at 12:30 p.m., followed by a Saturday match-up at Valparaiso scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
