UIC Hangs-On for 5-2 Men's Tennis Win

HINSDALE, Ill.--  The Detroit Titans fell, 5-2 at UIC in men's tennis action Friday afternoon.  UDM nabbed two singles wins and nearly had a third but the top singles match went to a supertiebreaker to help the Flames earn the team victory.

Doubles play was closely contested with an 8-6 win for UIC at No. 2 and a tight 9-8 (5) win for the Flames' top pair of Raa and Robare edging-out Alex Latosinsky and Pablo Nunez.  

In singles play, Nunez cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 5 position and Chris Cheung posted a 6-1, 7-6 (3) win at No. 4 to earn Detroit's team points.  Latosinsky led his opponent 7-6 (2) after the first set at No. 1, but dropped a tight 7-5 decision for the equalizer before Raa grabbed the win with a 10-2 win in the super tiebreaker.  

Detroit will continue Horizon League play Saturday, facing Valparaiso.  The match is set to begin at 3:00 p.m. Eastern.
