WESTLAKE, Ohio -- Junior Nick Tolomei (Rochester, MI/Adams) played at No. 4 singles and won his second Horizon League match in his last three outings with a 6-1, 7-6 (7-2) defeat over Cleveland State Saturday.

The Titans (6-13, 1-5 Horizon League) were downed 6-1 by Cleveland State (13-7, 7-0 HL) who finish Horizon League play with an unblemished 7-0 mark. The loss means Detroit's match-up against Youngstown State (5-12, 1-5 HL) tomorrow will see the winner take the sixth and final playoff spot in the conference.

Tolomei took down senior Chris Klepatz 6-1 in the first set before forcing the second set to a seven point tiebreaker. The Titan junior downed the Viking senior 7-2 in the breaker to capture his second Horizon League victory of the dual season. Two matches ago, Tolomei won at No. 2 singles in three sets at Valparaiso helping Detroit to a 7-0 victory.
