Women's Tennis Takes on Cleveland State

FINAL MATCH RESULTS

WESTLAKE, Ohio -- The Titans made the trip to Ohio to take on the Cleveland State Vikings Saturday afternoon looking to secure a berth in the Horizon League playoffs.

Cleveland State (12-11, 7-1 Horizon League) posted a 7-0 victory over the Titans leaving Detroit (3-17, 3-4 HL) with one match on this year's slate.

With the 7-0 defeat, Detroit will have to wait until the last match of the year against Youngstown State Sunday to set their playoff plans in stone. With the Titans currently in the fifth seed in the conference tied with Milwaukee 11-9 (3-5 HL), Detroit will control its own fate needing a win over Youngstown State (I5-12, 2-5 HL) to lock down a place in the postseason.

Against the Vikings Saturday, Titan freshman Raina Halabi (Beamsville, ON/Niagara Academy of Tennis) nearly captured a Titan win at No. 5 singles in a long drawn-out contest. Halabi took the first set 6-3 before falling by the same score in the second set. The 10-point tiebreaker was a back-and-forth affair that freshman Alex Power outlasted Halabi by a 12-10 score.

Detroit will finish the regular season with its final match Sunday at Youngstown State scheduled to start at 8:00 a.m.
