Serrano Captures Singles Win Over Marquette

Final Match Results

MILWAUKEE -- Sophomore Cesar Escobar Serrano (Merliot, El Salvador/Education) came back from an opening set loss to win 7-6, 14-12 in the tiebreaker, in the second set and capture the victory in the ten-point tiebreaker by a 10-6 decision.

The win for Serrano was his seventh in singles of the dual season, but it was his first match and victory in the No. 2 singles position.

Detroit (6-12) fell to Marquette (12-9) by a 6-1 score to close out the two-match weekend road trip in Milwaukee.

Junior Nick Tolomei (Rochester, MI/Adams) opened his match-up at No. 4 singles with 6-4 first set victory. A close 7-5 defeat in the second pushed the competition to a tiebreaker where he fell 10-3.

Detroit's No. 1 doubles pairing of sophomores Alex Latosinsky (Sarnia, ON/St. Christopher's) and Pablo Nunez (San Jose, Costa Rica/Educacion Abierta) lost a close match 8-7, after falling 7-5 in the tiebreaker.

The Titans will close out the regular season with a pair of doubleheaders with the women's team. Detroit will head to Cleveland State this Saturday and Youngstown State on Sunday to finish up this year's campaign.
