SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- After three difficult contests to start the dual-match season, the Detroit men's tennis team picked up its first victory scoring a 4-3 decision over the visiting Duquesne Dukes Saturday evening at the Franklin Athletic Club in Southfield as part of Homecoming Weekend.
The night started off with a pair of doubles wins as the No. 3 doubles match-up featured junior

In singles play, junior
Pablo Nunez cruised to a straight set 6-0, 6-0 victory in the No. 5 position to improve to a team-best 2-1 overall singles mark on the young season. A number of close matches on the night saw Detroit fall at the No. 1, 2 and 3 positions with wins from
Cesar Escobar Serrano and Basha needed to win the match for the Titans.
Serrano played a three-set marathon, including a first set tiebreaker, and persevered through to score a 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles. The deciding point would come down to Basha in the No. 4 position playing on Court #4 at the Franklin Athletic Club. A second set 6-4 victory from Alex Aleman forced a third and deciding set after Basha took his own 6-4 win in the opening frame. A close match until the end saw Basha emerge as the victor with a 7-5 final set score to clinch the win for the Titans.
