Michigan Hosts Red Simmons Invitational Saturday

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The women's track and field team was in competition at the Red Simmons Invitational Saturday which was hosted by the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
 
Junior Shannon Marchant set a new personal best in the 600-meter race with a mark of 1:40.83. The time is also the new number 12 mark on the Titan all-time list.
 
Sophomore Brandee Hart equaled her own career mark established in the meet at Central Michigan last week as she hit a 9.01 in the preliminary round of the 60-meter hurdles.
 
Three members of the Titans were in the 60-meter dash as sophomore Nicole Meisner crossed at 7.91, junior Nikia Duncan at 7.99 and freshman Jasmine Greene at 8.16.
 
In the one-mile run, junior Katrina Oberski established a new career best finishing at 5:22.59.
 
Senior Sequoyia Calhoun ran a 58.15 nearly running down the leader of the heat of the 400-meter run. Calhoun would advance to the finals and finish third.
 
Hart, Meisner, senior Susan Kalkstein and Calhoun ran the 4x400 meter relay team placed fourth with a 4:05.17 time.
 
In high jump, freshman Hana Hunt placed sixth with a 1.55m leap.
 
In the 800-meter race, junior Sarah Martinez finished 2:25.35
 
The Titans will now look ahead to their next meet on Jan. 28 at the IPFW Quadrangular in Fort Wayne, IN.
