MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Titans (3-6) played their first of two contests this weekend starting with a road contest Saturday afternoon against the Ball State Cardinals (4-2). The home team came out with a 6-1 victory as
Nick Tolomei posted the Titan point with a win at No. 2 singles.
After falling 6-4 in the first set, Tolomei came back forcing a second set tiebreaker that he won 7-6 (10-8) to push a third and deciding set. That final frame saw the Detroit senior come away with a 10-7 defeat for his sixth overall win of the 2011-12 campaign and second of the dual-match season.
The match saw the Titans fall in doubles and also the singles win streak for
Cesar Escobar Serrano come to an end. Serrano played in the No. 4 position and fell 7-5, 6-2.
The next competition for Detroit will come Sunday afternoon as the Titans will take on Dayton at noon to wrap up this play this weekend.
