MATCH RESULTS
DAYTON, Ohio -- The Detroit Titans men's tennis team took a road trip and came up with a 5-2 victory over Dayton on Sunday afternoon in Ohio.
Detroit captured two of three doubles wins and four of six singles contests in the match to improve to 4-7 on the year. The Flyers dropped to 2-4.
Both the doubles and singles matches were highly contested with Detroit pulling out some key points when they needed it.
In doubles, the Titan No. 1 team of junior
Chris Cheung and junior
Mike Basha won their bout, 9-7, while senior
David Stabley and junior
Alex Latosinsky won at No. 2, 8-6. Detroit went for the sweep at No. 3 doubles, but junior
Pablo Nunez and freshman
Jay Joshi were just edged, 8-6.
In singles, Latosinsky gave it all he had but just came up short at No. 1 falling 4-6, 7-5, 8-10.
The Titans did win at No. 2, 3, 4 and 5 to post the triumph over Dayton. Tolomei had a come from behind win the second slot, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, while Basha dominated his opponent at No. 3, 7-6 (7-0), 6-1.
Junior
Cesar Escobar Serrano defeated his counterpart, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 4 and senior
David Streeter put away his in the five-hole, 6-2, 6-4.
The Titans will now be idle for three weeks with their next action at Lipscomb on Mar. 3.
