MATCH RESULTS
EAST LANSING, Mich. -- The men's tennis team was in action in East Lansing Saturday morning taking on the No. 53 ranked Michigan State Spartans (5-4). Detroit (3-6) fell by a 6-1 score.
Cesar Escobar Serrano (Merliot, El Salvador/Education) won at No. 5 singles 4-6, 6-4 (10-7) for the Titan point. It was the fifth straight singles victory for Serrano and he leads the team with a 5-3 mark on the dual-match season. It was the 36th singles win of his Titan career.
The doubles pairing of
Mike Basha (Fort Gratiot, MI/Port Huron Northern) and
Chris Cheung (Mississauga, ON/Erindale) also posted a victory in the No. 1 slot with an 8-3 score. The two have played the last three matches together and have come out with wins in each contest. Cheung leads the team with five doubles wins in dual-match play.
The next match for Detroit will come on Sat. Feb. 11 as they will take on Ball State in Muncie, IN.
