HUNTINGTON WOODS, Mich. -- The Detroit Titans captured a third straight dual-match win with a 6-1 decision over the Chicago State Cougars Friday evening at the Huntington Woods Recreation Complex.
The Titans (9-12, 3-3 Horizon League) earned the doubles point by taking two of three matches and added five singles victories.
The doubles saw Detroit's No. 2 pairing of
Alex Latosinsky and
David Stabley post an 8-2 win and the No. 3 duo of
Pablo Nunez and
Jay Joshi dominated in an 8-0 shutout.
Singles play featured five victories for Detroit including the first of the spring season for both Joshi and
Larry Brown. Joshi was in the No. 5 position and scored a 6-2, 6-2 win while Brown played at No. 6 winning 6-0, 6-4.
Nunez kept his streak alive with his fifth straight winning decision in a 6-0, 6-2 performance at No. 4. In the No. 3 hole,
Cesar Escobar Serrano captured his team-high 15th victory of the dual season. The No. 1 singles match also went the way of the Titans as Latosinsky posted a 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 defeat over his Chicago State (0-23, 0-3 MAC) opponent.
