DETROIT (9/22/12) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's tennis team defeated Oakland, 6-2, in a rain-shortened match at the Detroit Invitational Saturday afternoon at the Titan Tennis Complex.

Raina Halabi, Valeryia Kulikouskaya, Chloe Karoub and Elena Strakhova all posted multiple wins on the day for Detroit.

Strakhova and Kulikouskaya were victors at #1 doubles (8-2) and then went on to post singles victories as Kulikoskaya won 6-2, 6-1 at #3, while Strakhova easily won her match 6-0, 6-0 at #6.

Halabi and Karoub teamed up for a 9-7 win at #3 doubles, with Karoub coming back to take a 6-1, 6-3 affair at #5 singles.

Nino Sujashvili cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 triumph at #1 singles and Julia Fernandes held on for a win in the fourth spot taking her match 6-2, 4-6, 12-10.

Detroit will be back in action next weekend when it travels to Dayton, Ohio, to compete in the Wright State Invitational.
