Titans Take On Duquesne and Butler for Weekend Doubleheader

DETROIT (3/14/13) – The Detroit women's tennis team will travel to Pittsburgh, Pa., to face Duquesne on Saturday and will then return to the Motor City on Sunday to face former Horizon League foe Butler at the Franklin Athletic Club in Southfield. The match against the Bulldogs is slated for 1:00 p.m.

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'
The Titans have won three in a row to even its record to 3-3 on the year. UDM has lost only two matches in the three-match win streak, shutting out both Oakland (2/2) and Dayton (2/22) in the process. Detroit lost its only two matches against Wayne State its last time out, one coming in a three-set thriller and the other on a retirement.

I'm All Alone
Three Titans are riding a three-match win streak with Irina Slizovskaya winning two at first singles and one at the second spot, while Chloe Karoub has won a pair at second singles and a straight-set victory at the first position against Wayne State.  Elena Strakhova has been dominant at sixth singles, bot dropping a set in her last three outings.

You've Got a Friend in Me
The pair of Julia Fernandes and Strakhova have won their previous three singles matches at first doubles, including two 8-2 victories against Wayne State and Dayton.  UDM has mixed and matched doubles partners at the second and third spot, but the Titans have still not lost a match despite the inconsistency in the lineup.

The Dukes
Duquesne is 4-6 on the year after a 5-2 loss to Temple, and has lost its last four of its last five matches. Chandler Consonery leads the Dukes with a 6-1 record at fifth singles and Judy Li and Megan O'Sullivan have earned four wins apiece.

In doubles action, O'Sullivan has teamed with Sara Shashura for six wins and Li and Alexa Miller are 5-2 at second doubles.

The Bulldogs
Butler has had some rough times this season, losing eight of its past nine matches, and stands at 3-12 overall. It has won just one match in the previous four match-ups, with Laura Shull being the only Bulldog to take her match against UNC-Wilmington on March, 6. Caroline Hedrick leads the way with five wins and Stephanie McLoughlin and Shull have a pair of wins each. The Bulldogs have won six doubles matches with Farmer pairing with McLoughlin and Caroline Hedrick for two wins each.

On the Horizon
UDM will open League play when it travels to Cleveland, Ohio to face Cleveland State on Friday, March 22 at 3:00 p.m.
