YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (3/23/13) – The Detroit women's tennis team fell in its Horizon League opener to Youngstown State, 4-3, on Saturday in Youngstown, Ohio.
 
Irina Slizovskaya and Raina Halabi were the only winners in doubles, taking third doubles by a tally of 8-3.
 
UDM dropped the top three singles matches, but took the final three in straight sets. Julia Fernandes took fourth singles by a mark of 6-1, 6-4. Valery Kulikovskaya took the point at fifth singles with a 6-2, 6-4, win at fifth singles. Elena Strakhova took the final singles match with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at sixth singles.
 
The Titans fell to 5-4 (0-1 HL) while YSU improved to 9-7 (1-0 HL). Detroit will continue HL play with a match at Cleveland State on Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
