Horizon League Release
INDIANAPOLIS (4/17/2013) –Off his career performance and leading the squad to a victory at the Detroit Titans Invitational, junior
Brendan Leonard made it two-straight weeks that the men's golf team received a conference accolade as he was named the Horizon League Men's Golfer of the Week on Wednesday.
Leonard follows senior
Simon Reyers, who earned the award last week, and it is also the first time he has been honored by the conference.
The third-year golfer was runner-up at UDM's home tournament, making a charge on the final 18 as he tied his career-best round with a 3-under 69. Leonard would finish the event with a career-best 214, just two shots off the leader, which included a 2-under 70 to open things up. He also ended with 36 pars and 10 birdies in the 54-hole event.
It was his fourth career top-10 effort – third this season - and his 10th top-20 finish – sixth on the year - as he will head into the Horizon League Championship leading the Titans with a 74.5 average.
Leonard and the Titans will play for the 2013 conference title next weekend, Apr. 26-28, at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
