SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (4/19/13) – The Detroit women's tennis team won its fifth straight match as they blank Green Bay, 7-0, Friday night at the Franklin Athletic Club.
The Titans (10-5, 4-2 HL) did not drop a set against Green Bay (1-21, 1-6 HL) and Valery Kulikovskaya held her opponent without a point at fifth singles, taking the match 6-0, 6-0.
Chloe Karoub won her fourth match at first singles in a 6-1, 6-4 decision.
Nino Sujashvili improved her chances for a postseason award with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at second singles, her 15th win of the season.
Irina Slizovskaya stretched her winning streak to five-straight with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at fourth singles.
Julia Fernandes won her 13th match of the year in a 6-4, 6-1 match at third singles and
Elena Strakhova won her fourth-straight match with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at sixth singles.
Raina Halabi and Karoub earned the first win of the evening, taking third doubles, 8-2, for their eighth win of the year. Strakhova and Kulikovskaya won their second Horizon League match with an 8-3 victory at first doubles to clinch the point and Sujashvili and Slizovskaya came from behind to take second doubles, 8-4.
Detroit will finish the regular season with a match against Milwaukee at the Franklin Athletic Club on Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
