Detroit Blanks IUPUI to Open Road Trip

INDIANAPOLIS (4/5/13) -- 
The Detroit women's tennis team had a dominating showing at IUPUI on Friday as the team defeated the Jaguars by a final score of 7-0.
 
Detroit did not drop a set and three Titans shut out their opponents in singles play.

Chloe Karoub and Raina Halabi blanked their doubles opponent, 8-0, at third doubles while Valery Kulikovskaya and Elena Strakhova lost only one game, coming away with an 8-1 victory at first doubles. Julia Fernandes and Irina Slizovskaya finished doubles action with an 8-4 victory at second doubles.
 
Kulikovskaya, Strakhova and Slizovskaya all earned their eighth win of the year, with Kulikovskaya and Strakhova blanking their opponents. Karoub took a win at first singles, 6-3, 6-2, and Fernandes won her match at second singles, 6-3, 6-3, both earning their sixth win of the year. Halabi shutout her opponent at fifth singles, 6-0, 6-0, to earn her second win on the year.
 
Detroit (7-5, 1-2 HL) will continue its road trip and will join the UDM men's team to take on UIC Saturday at Noon and Valparaiso on Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
