TOLEDO, Ohio (10/4/2014) --
Sophomores Anna Davydova and Nynke Van Der Goot tallied two victories in doubles as the University of Detroit Mercy women's tennis team wrapped up play at the Rocket Invite on Saturday.

The event – hosted by Toledo – was played all indoors at the Shadow Valley Tennis Club due to the inclement weather.

The newly formed Titan doubles tandem started day two with an 8-2 victory over IPFW's Alina Schibol and Sara Sherif and then ended the competition with an 8-5 win over Duquesne's Alexa Miller and Zuzanna Stelmaszak. Stelmaszak is the sister of current men's tennis sophomore Kacper Stelmaszak.

In singles, junior Irina Slizovskaya had a winning weekend going 2-1 overall as she edged Kylie Isaacs of Duquesne, 6-4, 5-7, 10-8.

Davydova and sophomore Viktoria Laskutova also went 2-1 in the event as each picked up a win in singles on Saturday to win their respective flight. At No. 2, Davydova won the first set of her match 6-2 and it was still early in the second when her counterpart in the Dukes' Miller had to retire due to an injury. Laskutova also earned her win over a Duquesne player defeating Stelmaszak, 6-1, 6-0, to capture flight four.

The Titans will now get ready for their final event of the fall, the ITA Midwest Regional Championships, hosted by Illinois from Oct. 16-21.
