EAST LANSING, Mich. (9/14/2014) --
Junior Nino Sujashvili and sophomore Anna Davydova both won their singles match and teamed up for another win in doubles as the University of Detroit Mercy women's tennis team concluded play at the Spartan Invitational on Sunday.

The singles wins came in Detroit's match against IPFW as Davydova was victorious at No. 2, 6-3, 7-6 (3), over Ella Norgren, while Sujashvili overpowered Sofia Sorokina at No. 4, 6-4, 6-1.

That tandem would also team up to post an 8-6 triumph at No. 2 over Aslina Chua and Emily Meyers of Michigan State, and nearly came away perfect as the duo was edged by Toledo's Sidney Huck and Lauren Thai, 8-7 (1).

The Titans other win on the day came against the Rockets as juniors Valeryia Kulikovskaya and Irina Slizovskaya routed Lexy Pitt and Pia Rygh, 8-2, at No. 1.

Overall, Detroit – playing shorthanded due to an injury – collected seven wins in the fall opener as the red, white and blue will now get ready for the Bowling Green Invitational, slated for next weekend, Sept. 19-20, in Bowling Green, Ohio.
