DETROIT (1/23/2015) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's tennis team will be back in action with a pair of road matches this week as the Titans take on Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan.
 
The Titans will visit BGSU on Friday at 6:00 p.m., at the Perrysburg Tennis Center, while the match against the Eagles will be on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., at the Chippewa Club.
 
Detroit will be looking for its first win over each opponent as the red, white and blue is 0-2 against Bowling Green and 0-20 versus Eastern Michigan.
 
The match will be the season opener for Bowling Green as the Falcons have a young squad with eight underclassmen out of their nine netters, including four freshmen. Detroit knows BGSU pretty well after taking part in the Bowling Green Invitational in the fall. Meili Martin led the team with four singles wins in the fall, while Hannah Drayton, Maddy Adams and Megan Miller all had three wins apiece.
 
EMU is 0-1 on the season after falling to Michigan State, 5-2, in its season opener last week. Alejandra Barcelo and Klara Supejova each have eight singles wins to lead the team and Ani Gogvadze is right behind them with seven.
 
The Titans began the season with a couple of tough opponents on the road in No. 20 Notre Dame and Ball State. Sophomore Anna Davydova posted three wins in the first two matches with two doubles victories along with a singles tally at BSU. She leads the team with seven singles and doubles wins on the year.
 
Irina Slizovskaya has five wins in singles and six in doubles and sophomore Viktoria Laskutova has recorded four triumphs in singles.
