KETTERING, Ohio (10/20/2015) -- Junior
Sarah Thompson recorded her 15th career top-20 effort as the University of Detroit Mercy women's golf team concluded its fall campaign by taking 11th as the Dayton Fall Invitational on Tuesday.
Thompson tied for 20th with a 158 (80-78) as she tallied two birdies and six pars in the final round. Junior
Brooke Sharpe tied for 29th with a 161 (83-78), while junior
Alexandra LeBlanc claimed 63rd with a 169 (86-83).
Detroit posted a 658 (337-321) total, but took 16 strokes off its first round score with a 321.
That will end the fall season for the red, white and blue as they get ready for the spring championship season.
THE SCORECARD THOMPSON IN FRONT AGAIN- Sarah Thompson had her third top-20 finish of the season and the 15th of her career.
- The 15 top-20 efforts are tied for the ninth-most in school history.
- Her three birdies in the event were tied for the team lead.
- Thompson's +2, 3.25 average on the course's Par 3's led the team and were tied for the fourth best in the field.
LOOKING SHARPE- Brooke Sharpe tied for the second best round in the event for the Titans with her 78 in the final round.
- Her 15 pars led the team in the two-day event and she also was tied for the team lead with three birdies.
- Her even, 5.00 average on the Par 5's was the best by a Titan and tied for the 10th best mark among the competitors.
THE 3'S AND 5'S- Detroit tied for the fourth best mark in the field with a 3.62 average on the Par 3's, while standing sixth in Par 5's with a 5.45 average.
HEATH BAR- Erica Heath showed some great perseverance coming back to post an 82 on the final round, which was used in the team's score.
- She had 14 pars, tied for second on the team, including nine in the final round.
UP NEXT- The Titans will now get ready for the spring season, preparing to make another run at the Horizon League Championship. Detroit has won three titles in the last six years. A spring schedule will be released shortly.
