TOLEDO, Ohio (10/3/15) – Junior Nynke Van Der Goot led the University of Detroit women's tennis team with a perfect 6-0 mark in singles and doubles as the Titans wrapped up the Rocket Invitational Saturday night.
 
The two-day tournament featuring Detroit, Duquesne, Toledo and Youngstown State began Friday at the UT Varsity Tennis Courts, but moved indoors to the Shadow Valley Tennis Club as inclement weather rolled across the area on Saturday.
 
Van Der Goot led the team on Friday with a pair of wins, going a perfect 2-0 in singles. Van Der Goot won 6-1, 6-2 against Toledo's Stroe, before cruising to a 6-4, 6-2 win over the Rockets' Thai. She continued her hot play on Saturday, winning her only singles match 6-4, 6-4 over Duquesne's Sarah Shashura. Van Der Goot finished the tournament 3-0 in singles and finished in first place of her flight.
 
As a team, Detroit went 2-8 overall on Friday, including a 2-6 mark in singles and 0-2 clip in doubles. On Saturday, the Titans went 3-1 in doubles and 2-2 mark in singles. UDM finished the weekend 3-3 in doubles and 4-8 in singles.

In doubles, the Detroit duo of Anna Davydova and Van Der Goot went 3-0 to win the second flight for the Titans. Van Der Goot went a perfect 6-0 in all matches she played.

• Round 1: Detroit's Valeryia Kulikovskaya and Slizovskaya fall to Toledo's Huck and Mazzolla, 6-2.
• Round 1: Detroit's Davydova and Van Der Goot defeat Toledo's Miller and O'Brien, 6-3.
• Round 2: Duquesne's Isaacs and Shashura defeat Detroit's Kulikovskaya and Sliovskaya, 6-4.
• Round 2: Detroit's Davydova and Van Der Goot defeat Herman and Wasson of Duquesne, 6-2.
• Round 3: Kulikovskaya and Slizovskaya defeat YSU's Longi and Brendel, 6-4.
• Round 3: Davydova and Van Der Goot defeat YSU's Heino and Lackova, 6-4.
 
Flight A Singles (1-5 overall)
• Round 1: Youngstown State's Brendel defeats Davydova in three sets, 6-1, 1-6, 7-6(3).
• Round 1: YSU's Marcias defeats Kulikovskaya, 6-4, 6-3.
• Round 2: Toledo's Huck defeats Davydova, 6-1, 6-1.
• Round 2: Toledo's Mazzola defeats Kulikovskaya, 6-3, 6-4.
• Round 3: Duquesne's Kylie Isaacs defeats Davydova, 6-2, 6-2.
• Round 3: Kulikovskaya defeats Julianne Herman of Duquesne, 6-2, 6-3.
 
Flight B Singles (3-3 overall)
• Round 1: Heino of YSU defeats Irina Slizovskaya in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.
• Round 1: Van Der Goot defeats YSU's Stroe, 6-1, 6-2.
• Round 2: O'Brien of Toledo defeats Slizovskaya, 6-4, 7-6 (2).
• Round 2: Van Der Goot defeats Toledo's Thai, 6-4, 6-2.
• Round 3: Wasson of Duequense defeats Slizovskaya in three sets, 6-7(4), 6-1, 6-0.
• Round 3: Van Der Goot defeats Duquesne's Sarah Shashura, 6-4, 6-4.
