PORT CLINTON, Ohio (10/5/2015) -- Two players claimed top 25 spots as the University of Detroit Mercy women's golf team wrapped up play at the Rocket Classic on Tuesday at the Par 72, 7,255-yard Catawba Island Club in Port Clinton, Ohio.
Detroit totaled a season-best 967 (332-317-318), a number that now ranks eighth in school history.
Junior
Sarah Thompson tied for 21st with a 236 (77-79-80), while junior
Brooke Sharpe posted a career-low 237 (83-79-75) for 23rd. Sharpe also had the best round of the Titans in the three-round tournament carding a career-best 3-over 75 on the final 18.
Junior
Sarah Montone posted a career mark with a 244 (84-82-78) for 39th as she ended the event with her best round firing a 78, a season-low.
Detroit will now get ready for its final tournament of the fall as the red, white and blue compete in the Dayton Fall Invitational from Oct. 19-20.

TOP 10 SCORECARD
- Detroit totaled a season-best 967 (332-317-318) and that 54-hole total is now eighth in school history and the best since posting a 943 at the 2014 Horizon League Championship.
LOOKING SHARPE
- Brooke Sharpe tallied a new career low with a 237, besting her previous mark by 14 strokes over the 251 she had at the Loyola Fall Invitational in September.
- Her third round 3-over 75 was also a new career mark by three shots over the 78 she had in the first round of the 2015 IPFW Spring Classic.
- Her eight birdies led the team and was tied for the fourth most in the field.
- She also led the team and was tied for 10th among the golfers with a +2, 5.17 average on the course's Par 5's.
ANOTHER CAREER DAY FOR MONTONE
- Sarah Montone lowered her career 54-hole mark with a 244, besting her previous total by three strokes over the 247 at the Loyola Fall Invitational.
- Her final round score of 78 was six shots lower than her first round score as well as a season-low.
- In the tournament, she knocked in 24 pars and two birdies.
THOMPSON LEADS TEAM AGAIN
- Sarah Thompson led the team for the third-straight tournament.
- She led the team with 35 pars and also had two birdies.
- She also topped the team in Par 4 scoring average with a +9, 4.30 mark, tied for 11th in the field.
HEATH'S GAME
- Erica Heath led the team in Par 3 scoring average with a +7, 3.58 tally.
- Her second round score of 5-over 77 was her first round in the 70's in her short career.
- She was second on the team with 28 pars and registered one birdie on the day.
UP NEXT
- The final regular season tournament of the fall will have the Titans visiting Dayton for the UD Fall Invitational from Oct. 19-20 at the NCR Country Club.
