Detroit (7-5, 3-2 MAAC) has already set a school record with seven wins on the year. UDM has won two in a row and three of the last four, but is still not assured a place in the MAAC Championship. A win and the Titans will be the No. 3 seed, while a loss will have the team scoreboard watching for the results of the Manhattan-Monmouth and Siena-Marist match-ups. Going even further into tiebreakers, Detroit can still make the postseason with a loss by no more than one goal and wins by Monmouth and Siena.
A win by the Titans would also guarantee the team its first-ever winning season as well as an undefeated home campaign. Detroit is currently one of just eight teams in Division I with an unblemished home record at 5-0.
The Titans had another stellar comeback last week at Siena. Detroit trailed 5-0 in the first and 13-10 in the fourth only to shut out an opponent in the final period for the third-straight game, and go on a 4-0 run to shock the Saints, 14-13.
Canisius is coming off a big 20-6 victory at home against VMI. The Golden Griffins are 3-11 overall and 2-3 in the MAAC, and they will be playing a "playoff" game as they need a victory in order to make the MAAC Championship.
The 2015 MAAC Championship is set for next week as the top-seeded Marist Red Foxes will host the event. The semifinals will be on Thursday, April 30, with the championship on Saturday, May 2.
AGAINST THE MAACDetroit is 18-19 in league play since joining the MAAC in 2010. UDM opened its' MAAC history with a 2-6 mark in 2010 and was 4-2 in 2011 and 3-3 the last three seasons, tying for second place in 2011, 2012, and 2014.
THE SERIESDetroit leads the all-time series, 4-2, and is 2-0 at home. UDM lost the first-ever meeting on the road, 9-8, but the Titans have won four of the last five against the Golden Griffins, including all four meetings during the regular season.
The lone loss in that time was a 12-10 setback at Marist in the 2012 MAAC Championship semifinals.
ABOUT CANISIUSCanisius enters the game at 3-11 overall and 2-3 in the MAAC. It is a must-win for the Golden Griffins as they need a victory in order to make the MAAC Championship. Even then depending on what happens in the two other MAAC games on Saturday, they might have to beat the Titans by two for tiebreaking purposes to secure a spot.
Canisius' three wins have come against Manhattan (8-4), Siena (10-9, OT) and VMI (20-6).
The Golden Griffins rank fifth in goals per game with 8.00 and are also fifth in scoring defense giving up 10.99.
Tim Edwards leads the team with 28 points on 16 goals and 12 assists. He is also the top faceoff man winning 105-199 (.528) with 61 ground balls. Billy Jacobbi has a team-high 20 goals with seven assists and Jeff Edwards tops the squad with 13 assists, while scoring 11 goals.
Kevin Collins has a team-high 16 caused turnovers with 44 ground balls, and Alex Govenettio has started all 14 games in goal posting a 10.45 goals against average and a .487 save percentage.
MAAC CHAMPIONSHIP SCENARIOSThe last week of the regular season always brings some scoreboard watching and with two spots up for grabs for postseason play, this is what the scenarios look like for the Titans.
Marist 5-0 - clinched #1 seed
Quinnipiac 4-2 - clinched #2 seed
Detroit 3-2
Monmouth 2-3 (vs. Manhattan on Saturday)
Siena 2-3 (at Marist on Saturday)
Canisius 2-3
IF DETROIT WINS, clinch the #3 seed
IF DETROIT LOSESA Canisius win along with a Siena and Monmouth loss: Canisius is #3, Detroit is #4
A Canisius, Siena and Monmouth win, would have Canisius/Detroit/Monmouth/Siena all tied at 3-3. Mini-conference records: Canisius 2-1, Detroit 2-1, Monmouth 2-1, Siena 0-3. Siena would be eliminated, and a new mini-conference formed among Canisius/Detroit/Monmouth: Canisius 1-1, Detroit 1-1, Monmouth 1-1. The next step is to compare the record of the tied teams against the teams from the top of the standings down. All three lost to Marist and to Quinnipiac, the group of tied teams is next, then all three defeated Siena and Manhattan. The next step is to compare the goal differential of the tied teams in games among the tied teams. The tied teams shall be seeded in order of goal differential. If some, but not all of the teams remain tied, then those teams start the tie-breaking process over to determine their seed within the mini conference. (Canisius, Detroit, Monmouth). Monmouth is +2; Detroit is +1, Canisius is -3. So in this instance, Detroit could lose to Canisius by one and still make the MAAC Championship. If Detroit loses by two, Monmouth would be the #3 and Canisius #4.
If Canisius and Siena win and Monmouth loses, Canisius/Detroit/Siena will be tied at 3-3. Mini-conference records: Canisius 2-0, Detroit 1-1, Siena 0-2. Canisius would be #3, Detroit #4.
If Canisius and Monmouth win and Siena loses, Canisius/Detroit/Monmouth are tied at 3-3. This is the same mini-conference scenario as above and would depend on goal differential.
BARRIERS BROKENThe Titans have already accomplished a few "firsts" this season in beating teams like Bellarmine, Ohio State and Robert Morris for the first time in school history as well as receiving votes in the USILA Coach's Poll.
UDM is also guaranteed its first-ever winning record against non-conference foes in the regular season with a 4-3 mark.
The Titans also set a school record with seven wins and are one away from locking down their first-ever winning season.
COMEBACK KIDSThe Titans have walked a thin line the last two weeks, but Detroit has posted back-to-back fourth-quarter comebacks to stay alive for the postseason.
Last week, Detroit trailed at Siena 5-0 in the first and 13-10 in the fourth when the Titans stormed back for a 14-13 victory. UDM scored three goals in the last 3:43 and blanked the Saints in the final period, 4-0.
The game is also tied for the second overall comeback in school history behind the five-goal rally against Siena in the 2013 MAAC Championship (trailed 8-3 in the second and 9-4 in the third), where Detroit won 11-10 in overtime.
Against Monmouth two weeks ago, Detroit trailed 8-4 heading into the fourth, but on the strength of a 5-0 run, the Titans came back to defeat the Hawks, 9-8.
That game marked the biggest fourth-quarter comeback in school history.
RALLY HISTORYThe Titans now have four fourth-quarter comebacks in their history, including the past two weeks.
The other two games were in the 2013 MAAC Championship against Siena (down 10-9 and won in overtime, 11-10) and in 2014 against Mercer (down 9-8 and won 11-10).
UNDEFEATED AT HOMEThe Titans are one of eight teams in the nation that are undefeated at home at 5-0.
Joining the Titans for that distinction are: North Carolina (10-0), Syracuse (8-0), Maryland (6-0), Cornell (5-0), Denver (5-0), Albany (4-0) and Hobart (3-0).
BRING ON THE YOUNGSTERSYou always feel more comfortable with veterans, but some of the younger Titans have really shined this year.
Through 12 games, 40.6 percent of Detroit's offense - including 39.4 percent of its goals - has been recorded by underclassmen (freshmen, redshirt freshmen, sophomores) as they have notched 47 goals and 27 assists for 74 points, with the UDM's total standing at 119 goals and 63 assists for 182 points.
POWER PLAYThe Titans' man-up unit has been tremendous again this season as Detroit is second in the MAAC and seventh in the nation in man-up offense (.514), scoring on 19-of-37 opportunities.
Detroit set a NCAA record with a .708 last season, converting on 34-of-48 opportunities.
In the last 26 games, UDM is 53-of-85 (.623) with the extra-man attack.
TITANS AMONG THE NATION'S LEADERSThe University of Detroit Mercy men's lacrosse team leads the nation in saves per game and ranks in the top 20 in two other statistics as the NCAA released its latest stats on Wednesday, April 22.
Detroit is tallying 15.25 saves per game, while ranking seventh in man-up offense (.514) and 17th in clearing percentage (.876).
As a team, UDM is the MAAC leader in clearing percentage and caused turnovers (7.00), and is second in man-up offense, scoring offense (9.92) and shot percentage (.290).

ADAMS POSSESS NATION'S LONGEST SCORING POINT STREAKSenior

It is currently the longest streak in the nation by three games over UNC's Jimmy Bitter.
He has 169 points on 139 goals and 31 assists during this spurt.
In his career, Adams has scored a point in 59 of 60 games - only in his second career game at Ohio State did he not register a point - as well as scoring a goal in 57 of those contests.

Mark Anstead has made an immediate impact to the Titan offense and he nearly put his name at the top of the freshman record book with his six-point performance against Robert Morris on Feb. 21.
Anstead tallied three goals - all in the second period - for his first collegiate hat trick and had his three assists in the second half.
The six points were one shy of the Titan freshman record set by current teammate
Shayne Adams, who had seven against Mercer - all goals - in 2011.
Anstead is the fourth true freshman to reach six points in a game following Adams, Joel Matthews (6 vs. Quinnipiac in 2010) and
Tyler Staruch (6 vs. Presbyterian in 2010).
He added his second hat trick of the season with three goals and four points at Bellarmine. He also recorded three goals at Quinnipiac and five points on three assists and two goals at Siena.
He has been listed in the top 25 in both of Inside Lacrosse's set of freshmen rankings this year, the latest released on April 17.
The Potomac, Md., native leads the team with 36 points on a team-high 16 assists and 20 goals. He is fourth in the MAAC with 1.33 assists, sixth with 3.00 points, and eighth tallying 1.67 goals per game.
The five-time MAAC Rookie of the Year is also seventh among Division I freshmen in points per game.
THE PROUD OWNER OF ANOTHER RECORDSenior
Shayne Adams already owned the all-time goals record at Detroit, but with his second marker against Marquette on Feb. 27, he picked up point number 147 passing former teammate and current assistant coach
Alex Maini (2011-14) for the school lead.
Adams now has 173 career points on 142 goals and 31 assists. His 31 helpers are currently sixth in school history.
He is coming off a season in which he tallied a MAAC-best 42 goals to go along with 49 points – both school records. As a freshman, he had 35 goals and 41 points, while as a sophomore, he had 33 goals and 37 points.
THE GREAT WALL OF WEBERAfter leading nation with 16.27 saves per game last year, sophomore
Jason Weber is back at number one leading the country again at 14.50, while ranking fourth in the country with a .594 save percentage.
He set a school record with 28 saves against Mercer on March 4, tying a MAAC record, and posted 34 saves in the two games at the Midwest Classic, tallying 19 against nationally-ranked Marquette.
Against Ohio State in the season opener, he posted 14 saves and picked up a career-best six ground balls.
He has recorded double-digit saves in 21 of his 23 career games played, including 14 games with 15+, nine with 17 or more and two with 20+.
In 23 career games – all starts – he has posted 353 saves, a .617 save percentage and a 9.461 goals against average.
He is already at 174 saves on the year after making 179 saves last season – tying a UDM record – and is third in the MAAC with a 10.11 goals against average.
BO KNOWS OFFENSESenior
Brandon Beauregard tallied a career-high four goals and tied his career best with five points at Quinnipiac and came back with his second-straight hat trick firing in three markers against Manhattan. Last week at Siena, he tied his career high with three assists.
He has three hat tricks in his career following the three goals and two assists he poured in at second-seeded Notre Dame in 2013 in the NCAA Championship First Round.
He has scored a point in 11 of UDM's 12 games on the year - including 14 points on eight goals and six assists in the last five games.
He is now third on the team with a career-best 29 points, scoring a career-high 16 goals and tying his career best with 13 assists.
In his career, he currently has 79 points - seventh in school history - on 38 goals and 41 assists. The 38 markers are eighth in the UDM record books, while the 41 assists are fourth.
THE BEAT OF HIS DRUMSenior
Scott Drummond now has a career-high 21 goals on the year after posting his third hat trick in the last five game with a career-high four goals at Siena. Three of the goals were in the second half, including back-to-back late in the fourth to tie the game at 13-13.
His other two hat tricks have come with three markers at Marist and three at Quinnipiac.
He is now fourth on the team with 21 points and third with 18 goals. Drummond currently has a team-high seven man-up goals, tied for first in the MAAC and 10th in the nation.
The midfielder is coming off his best season culminating in being named Second Team All-MAAC in 2014 as he set career highs with 17 goals, 15 assists and 32 points, good for third on the squad in assists, fourth in points and tied for fourth in goals.
He is also currently third in school history with 99 points and is fifth with 60 goals. He also has totaled six hat tricks in his career.
DID YOU SAY 28?Sophomore
Jason Weber - the reigning MAAC Rookie and Defensive Player of the Year and already a four-time MAAC Defensive Player of the Week - posted a school-record 28 saves against Mercer on March 4.
Weber's 28 stops broke his school record of 23 he had last year in a win over Marist and tied a MAAC single-game record with the 28 that Dan Morrissey of St. Joseph's had against Delaware on Feb. 14, 2004.
GIVE IT UPJunior
Paul Bitetti was selected preseason All-Conference by the MAAC and Inside Lacrosse and he showed exactly why he has received those accolades tallying two caused turnovers against Ohio State and at Michigan. He also picked one up against Marquette and at Bellarmine and is currently third in the MAAC and 49th in the nation with 1.20 per game.
He saw a lot of action as a freshman on the 2013 MAAC Championship team and stepped up his play last year, taking over the top long pole spot and earning First Team All-MAAC.
Bitetti recorded a career and team-high 24 caused turnovers and ended the year 12th in Division I and leading the MAAC with 1.85 caused turnovers per game.
BIRNEY GOES BOOMSenior
Mike Birney posted his first hat trick of the season with three goals and a season-high four points against Manhattan. It was his eighth career first three-goal game and the first since ringing up four against Marquette last season.
He now has 61 career goals for a share of third in school history, while his 86 points is sixth.
Birney was tabbed Second Team All-MAAC for the second-straight year in 2014 and was a preseason All-Conference selection this year.
He posted 18 goals and 25 points as a junior, tied for second and fifth, respectively, on the squad in 2014.
Birney - who has a shot clocked as high as 114 MPH in the summer of 2013 - earned the Most Outstanding Player at the 2013 MAAC Championship, where he recorded eight goals and had a pair of game winners and a career-high five in the title game.
NO NO BY YONOJunior
Jordan Yono had a big game against Monmouth tying his career high with three caused turnovers and picking up a career-best four ground balls.
OFFENSIVE OUTPUTDetroit netted eight-straight goals in the third period - a school record - and never looked back in defeating Bellarmine on the road, 14-11, on March 1. At Siena on April 25, Detroit posted 14 goals in a 14-13 come-from-behind victory.
Both games marked some of the best offensive contests in Titan history.
The 14 goals are tied for the fifth-most by the Titans in school history.
They collected nine assists against both Bellarmine and at Siena, tying for fourth in school history.
The 23 total points against Bellarmine and at Siena are tied for the sixth highest in the Detroit record book and the most since posting 26 at Canisius in 2012.
The Titans also had five man-up goals at Bellarmine, tying a school record for the third time.
LET IT FLYUDM has been outshot eight times this season, but on March 28, it was the Titans controlling the offense as they fired off a school-record 58 shots in the 13-7 victory over Manhattan.
The previous mark was 51 against Mercer in 2011.
GAME WINNING KNOCKSDetroit has won its share of games coming down the stretch as four of UDM's seven wins have been by just one goal.
Sophomore
Kyle Beauregard helped the Titans beat Robert Morris, 11-10, in overtime as his third goal was the game winner in the extra session.
Freshman
Mark Anstead capped a fourth-quarter 5-0 run with a marker with 2:18 left as Detroit defeated Monmouth, 9-8, while sophomore
Brad Harris ended a 4-0 fourth-quarter rally beating the keeper with 33 seconds remaining in the Titans' 14-13 road victory at Siena.
HICKS AT THE FACEOFFJunior
Damien Hicks has come on strong in the last seven games winning at least 50.0 percent in six of them and posting a 56-of-98 (.571) mark, an improvement from his 34-of-87 (.390) he tallied in the first five games.
He just posted a season-high 13 wins (13-of-21) at Siena last week, one away from his career high, and also has two games on the year with 10 faceoff wins (vs. Robert Morris and Manhattan).
Hicks is currently the school's all-time leader in faceoff winning percentage at 48.4 percent (279-of-577), while his 279 faceoff wins trail only Brandon Davenport's (2010-13) 334.
CONGRATS TITANS!Detroit had a pair of first-time goal scorers in its' 14-11 victory at Bellarmine at the Midwest Classic on March 1.
Junior
Mike Spuller and freshman
Jeff Fernandes each found the back of the net for their first collegiate goals, but what made it even more special is that both goals came on their first collegiate shot.
Against Manhattan, senior
Tyler Harper and redshirt freshman
Adam Susalla each tallied their first career goals.
Meanwhile, sophomore
Greg Marzec won a faceoff and scored his first goal against Monmouth, while sophomore
Marcus Butters was able to record his first goal on his very first collegiate shot at Siena.
