LAKE MARY, Fla. (3/9/2016) --
The University of Detroit Mercy women's golf team ended play in its second tournament of the spring break week taking eighth at the Seminole State Spring Break Invitational on Wednesday.

The event was hosted by Seminole State College of Florida at the Par 72, 6,152 yard Timacuan Golf and Country Club.

"This is one of the toughest courses we have ever played on," said head coach Terri Anthony-Ryan. "With that said, we need to work on our fundamentals and our mental toughness. I thought we hit the ball well, but we need to finish."

The Titans ended the competition with a 695 (344-351) with three players in the top 40.

Junior Sarah Thompson led the way finishing in a tie for 23rd with a 166 (82-84). Junior Sarah Montone claimed 39th with a 176 (92-84), while junior Brooke Sharpe posted a 177 (81-96).

"We need to trust ourselves out there. We have a lot of work to do in these last few days down here," added coach Ryan.

Detroit will return to action on March 26 when the red, white and blue compete in the Robert Trent Jones Challenge, hosted by Dayton at the Magnolia Grove Golf Club in Mobile, Alabama.
