Men’s Tennis Falls to Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. (2/11/17) – The University of Detroit Mercy men's tennis team opened a weekend road trip with a 5-2 loss at Ball State on Saturday from the Hoosier State.
 
The Titans fell behind early as the Cardinals sealed the doubles point and could not complete the comeback as Ball State took four of the six singles points.
 
Senior Patryk Koscielski erased a 2-6 loss in the first set of No. 2 singles with a 6-4 win in the second, and capped the comeback with a decisive 6-1 victory in the third set.
 
Sophomore Adam Zychowicz also recorded a hard-fought victory in three sets from the fifth position. After dropping a 6-3 decision in the first frame, Zychowicz answered with a 7-5 win in the second and gutted out an 11-9 win in the third set.
 
Junior Nathan Ponton saw his four-match win streak come do an end as he was retired in three sets.
 
With the loss, the Titans fall to 2-4 on the season. Detroit Mercy will return to action on Sunday at 5 p.m. against the Irish of Notre Dame.
