Men’s Tennis Edged by UNOH

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (2/5/17) – The University of Detroit Mercy men's tennis team was edged, 4-3, by the visiting Racers of Northwestern Ohio on Sunday night from Franklin Athletic Club.
 
The Racers jumped ahead early by claiming the doubles point and held off the Titans by picking up three of the six singles points. All three of the Titans' singles defeats came in the third and final set.
 
Nathan Ponton made quick work out of the third position in singles, picking up the win in straight sets of 6-1 and 6-1.
 
Artem Vasheshnikov continued his winning ways from the second spot with a straight-set victory. The victory is his third in a row and fourth in five tries so far in 2017.
 
Adam Zychowicz added the Titans third singles victory from the fifth position, taking his match with wins of 6-4 and 6-2.
 
Detroit Mercy hits the road next weekend for a pair of matches against Ball State (Saturday, Feb. 11) and Notre Dame (Sunday, Feb. 12).
