Horizon League Release
INDIANAPOLIS (1/23/18) – Junior
Pauline Van Herck of the University of Detroit Mercy women's tennis team was named the Horizon League Women's Singles Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Van Herck went 2-1 last week, opening the 2018 campaign with back-to-back victories at No. 4 singles as the Titans squared off with Akron and Grand Canyon. Van Herck fell in the final matchup of a busy weekend at Michigan State.
The junior swept Madison Wolfe of the Zips on Friday, 6-4 and 6-0, before outlasting Celina Buhr of the Lopes in three sets, 6-2, 0-6 and 6-2.
The award is the first of Van Herck's career and first for the Titans in 2018.
Van Herck and the Titans are off until Feb. 2, when the squad heads to East Lansing, Mich. for a neutral site matchup with Utah State University.
