Singles Qualifying Draw
Doubles Main Draw 

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (10/21/18) – Sophomore Jasmine Apawti picked up two wins in the singles qualifying draw to lead the University of Detroit Mercy women's tennis team at the ITA Midwest Regionals from Michigan's Varsity Tennis Center over the weekend. 
 
Eight players advanced out of 64 in the qualifying draw of singles and after two singles rounds on Thursday, J. Apawti was one of 16 players remaining. The sophomore defeated Michigan State's Nicole Stephens, 6-4 and 6-4, before downing Polina Radeva of Bowling Green, 6-3 and 6-1. Needing another win to advance to the main draw of singles, J. Apawti came up just short with a 6-3, 6-2 loss against Toledo's Dee Dee Leenabanchong. 
  
Elsewhere in the opening round, Chelsea Apawti picked up a win against Holland Long of Akron, 6-4 and 6-4, before falling to Fleur Eggnik of Marquette.
 
Iris Thioux jumped out to a hot start with a 6-2 win in the opening set against Marta Bettinelli of Bowling Green, but would fall as Bettinelli rallied to take the second and third frames.
 
In doubles on Friday, the Apawti sisters fell to Papavasilopoulos and Slaria of Eastern Illinois by a narrow 8-6 margin, while Ksenia Providokhina and Thioux dropped a 8-3 decision to Popovic and Eggink from Marquette.
