DETROIT (2/25/18) – The University of Detroit Mercy women's tennis team suffered a 4-0 defeat to Bowling Green State University on Sunday night from Franklin Athletic Club in Southfield, Mich.
The visiting Falcons of BGSU picked up the doubles points and recorded the first three wins in singles to clinch the win and improve to 6-3 on the season.
The remaining singles matches went unfinished, with
Jasmine Apawti leading at No. 2 singles after a 6-3 win in the opening set and a 5-4 lead in the second, and matches yet to be decided on the fourth and fifth courts.
In doubles,
Pauline Van Herck and
Iris Thioux led 4-3 at No. 2 when the Falcons clinched the point.
The Titans fall to 3-8 on the season with the loss. The squad will look to bounce back next week when they head south for spring break and a five-game road trip that begins with Tennessee State on Mar. 5.
