Women’s Tennis Falls at EMU on Saturday

Ypsilanti, Mich. (3/18/18) – The University of Detroit Mercy women's tennis team suffered a 5-2 setback at Eastern Michigan University on Saturday from Chippewa Racquet Club.
 
The shorthanded Titans were edged for the doubles point and took three of five singles decisions for the win.
 
Freshman Jasmine Apawti defeated the Eagles' Giulians Ansaloni at No. 2 singles in straight sets, 7-6 and 6-3.
 
Ksenia Providokhina cruised past Natalia Regalado at No. 4 singles, 6-3 and 6-1.
 
In doubles, Iris Thioux and Pauline Van Herck held a 5-3 lead as the match went unfinished with the point already decided.
 
The Eagles continue their strong start to the season by improving to 10-3, while Detroit Mercy drops to 5-10.
 
The Titans will look to bounce back with a two-game home stand to kick off Horizon League play next weekend, as IUPUI and UIC travel to the Motor City on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
