MUNCIE, Ind. (9/21/18) – The University of Detroit Mercy women's tennis team got off to a solid start on Friday at a hidden dual hosted by Ball State University at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
Along with the Cardinals and Titans, the hidden dual features Dayton and Murray State with all four teams competing in singles and doubles.
On Friday, the Titans went 3-1 in singles against Dayton and split with Ball State, 2-2, while splitting a pair of doubles matches against Murray State.
Sophomore
Jasmine Apawti went 2-0 from the top line of singles, picking up a straight-sets (6-2, 6-3) win over Dayton's Kelly Pleiman and outlasting Sarah Swiderski of Ball State in three sets, 4-6, 6-2 and 10-8.
Senior Iris Thoiux also went 2-0 from the second line of singles, defeating Emily Zargham of Dayton, 6-1 and 6-1, and Victoria Sec of Ball State in extras, 0-6, 6-4 and 10-5.
Junior
Ksenia Providokhina added a win for the Titans from No. 4 singles, defeating Anna Delaney from Dayton by scores of 6-3 and 7-5.
Thioux and Providokhina teamed up to deliver a doubles win as well, a 6-4 triumph from No. 2 doubles over Hadzic and Loncarevic of Murray State.
The Titans are back in action tomorrow for the final day of the hidden dual.
