OLEAN, N.Y. (2/16/2019) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's tennis team started an upstate New York road trip with a win as the Titans claimed a 4-3 decision at St. Bonaventure on Saturday.
Detroit Mercy (2-2) earned the doubles point and then took three singles matches to pull out the win.
Junior
Ksenia Providokhina and redshirt sophomore
Sara Mitrakovic had little trouble winning No. 3 doubles, 6-2, while senior
Iris Thioux and junior
Sophie Torcello were able to register a 7-6 thrilling win at No. 2.
In singles, Thioux came back to down Kahlei Reisinger, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 in what was the match clincher.
Providokhina had no trouble cruising past Buse Gunay, 6 -0, 6-1, at No. 4, while Torcello beat Emily Stanley, 7-6, 6-2, at No. 5.
The Titans will be back in action tomorrow morning as they face Niagara at 11 a.m.
