Jasmine Apawti and
Chelsea Apawti were named the Horizon League Women's Tennis players of the week, sweeping the awards for the University of Detroit Mercy as the league office announced the accolades on Tuesday afternoon.
Jasmine Apawti was named the Singles Player of the Week after going 1-0 from the Titans' top line, and was named to the Doubles Team of the Week along with twin sister
Chelsea Apawti after the duo went 1-0 on the No. 1 doubles line.
The tandem led off doubles with a 6-1 win to help the Titans clinch the doubles point, before each picking up a singles win to propel Detroit Mercy to a 5-2 win over Saint Francis in the Titans' 2019 home opener on Saturday night from Franklin Athletic Club.
The win leveled Detroit Mercy's record at 1-1 in the early going of the spring season. The Titans return to action this Sunday as the squad heads to East Lansing to take on UConn.
