Softball Releases 40-Game Spring Schedule

DETROIT (1/19/2021) -- The University of Detroit Mercy softball team will be back in action this spring as the program will play a 40-game Horizon League schedule.

The team will play just a Horizon League schedule as the league recently approved the play of fall and spring sports. The winner of the league tournament -- which will be announced at a later date -- will receive a bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The Titans will have the advantage of playing 22 home games compared to 18 road games and all game days are scheduled to be doubleheaders.

The season will begin on March 12-13 on the road at HL-newcomer Robert Morris before returning home for a 10-game homestand against Youngstown State (March 19-20), UIC (March 23) and IUPUI (March 26-27).

Detroit Mercy will hit the road at Cleveland State (April 2-3) and at rival Oakland (April 6) before coming back home to face NKU on April 9-10. After a four-game series at Green Bay from April 16-17, the Titans will have an eight-game homestand taking on conference newcomer Purdue Fort Wayne (April 23-24) and Oakland (April 30-May 1).

The regular season will conclude at UIC on May 7-8.

The Titans are the defending Horizon League champions as they won the 2019 conference tournament and made the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.

A broadcast schedule of the home games will be released at a later date.
