CLARKSTON, Mich. (6/2/2021) -- University of Detroit Mercy senior Alexa Hatz started her summer amateur season with a bang as she won the 19-24 Division at the 23rd GAM Women's Mid-Amateur Championship on Tuesday.

The two-day event was held at the par 73 Oakhurst Golf & Country Club, where Hatz won by two strokes with a 4-over 150 (73-77). 

Hatz took a two-shot lead after firing an even-par 73 in round one, where she had four birdies and 10 pars. 

In round two, she started with eight straight pars and tallied 13 total with a birdie en route to a 77. 

She had several teammates in the field as senior Kendall Payne tied for sixth with a 160 (78-82) and senior Shana Murphy shared 10th with a 162 (76-86). 

Sophomore Shae Zydeck tied for 14th with a 170 (86-84), while sophomore Sydney Bradford was 16th shooting a 173 (87-86) and freshman Sophia Ubaydi finished 23rd with a 187 (102-85).
