BOWLING GREEN, Ohio. (4/12/22) - Senior
Taryn Peru hit 2-for-3 with a 3-run home run in game two while senior
Piper Roth went a combined 4-for-6 (2-for-3 in both games) with a RBI and run as Detroit Mercy had a 4-1 lead in the nightcap but could not hang on falling 6-4 at Bowling Green in non-conference doubleheader action. The Titans also fell 3-0 in game one.
Over the last four games, Peru has swung a hot bat racking up five hits including her team-best third home run of the season along with four RBI and a pair of runs scored. Roth has also been hot at the plate going 2-for-3 for the third consecutive game with seven hits over the last four games with a pair of RBI and a run scored.

Leena Mortensen also recorded two hits overall while senior
McKenna Tanguay went 2-for-3 in game one. Senior
Taylor Gauthier also went 1-for-3 with a run.

Liz Murphy went the distance in her fifth consecutive complete game with a strikeout. Freshman
Chloe Spitzer got the start in game two with a strikeout while junior
Olivia Warrington returned to the circle going 2.1 innings in relief.
Game 1:
• Both pitchers were solid early on allowing only three combined hits through two innings.
• Detroit Mercy (1-29) had five total hits with two from Tanguay and Roth and one from Mortensen.
• Bowling Green (22-11) got on the board fist with an RBI single in the bottom of the third inning
• The Falcons added a pair of runs on a two-run single in the top of the fifth inning for a 3-0 lead.
Game 2:
• Roth hit a single up to middle to score Gauthier giving Detroit Mercy a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
• BGSU responded in the bottom half with a sacrifice fly to draw even at 1-1.
• Peru's 3-run shot over the left center field wall scored Roth and pinch runner
Kara Erickson giving the Titans a 4-1 lead in the top of the third.
• The Falcons once again responded with a RBI double followed by a two-run homer tying the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the third.
• BGSU took their first lead of the game with a solo home run by Sarah Gonzalez in the bottom of the fourth
• Gonzalez added her second homer of the game in the sixth inning to secure the 6-4 win for the Falcons
Detroit Mercy resumes #HLSB play with a series at Purdue Fort Wayne beginning on Friday, Apr. 15 at 3 p.m.
