DETROIT (9/13/2022) -- Sophomore
Ariel Chang recorded her fourth career top-five finish as the University of Detroit Mercy women's golf team wrapped up play at Youngstown State's Roseann Schwartz Invitational on Tuesday.
The top-five mark was her fourth in five career tournaments as she missed her spring rookie season with an injury.
Detroit Mercy tied for sixth overall with a 629 (313-316), just seven shots outside the top three, at the par 71, 6,088-yard Mill Creek Golf North Course in Boardman, Ohio.
Chang tied for runner-up honors with a career-best 144 (70-74), three shots behind the leader. After firing a 1-under 70 yesterday, she came back with a 3-over 74 in the final round, posting two birdies and 11 pars.
She finished third in the event with a team-high six birdies and tied for sixth with 22 pars. Chang was also tied for second on the par 4's with an even-par 4.00 average and tied for sixth on the par 3's with a +2, 3.20 mark.
Senior
Sydney Bradford shared 18th with a career-low 154 (76-78) as she followed her career-best round of 76 with a 78 in round two. Her 23 birdies led the team and was tied for the third most in the tournament.
Freshman
Taylor Kondel placed 28th with a 163 (82-81), while junior
Sophia Ubaydi ended in 36th with a 169 (85-84).
The Titans will return to action in two weeks when they take part in the UIC Invitational from Sept. 25-26.
