DETROIT (5/3/23) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's track and field team is preparing for the 2023 Horizon League Outdoor Championships in Youngstown, Ohio May 5-7 from Farmers National Bank Field hosted by Youngstown State University.
2023 Outdoor Season
The outdoor season has been one littered with stellar performances.
At the Elaine Leigh Invitational,
Mone Knowles won the 100-Meter and 200-Meter. Her 24.62 second time in the 200-Meter ranks sixth in the league for the outdoor season.
At Siena Heights,
Zoe Morris hit the sixth best High Jump in program history with a 1.62 meter clearance.
Rookie
Kaliyah Favors ran a 12.30 second time in the 100-Meter which was good for eighth all-time.
At the Elaine Leigh Invitational,
Josie Arnold turned in a 4:38.00 time in the 1500-Meter which now sits seventh in program history.
In the 400-Hurdles, rookie
Gracelyn Peebles ran a 1:05.31 time for ninth in Titans history.
The rookie record for the 4x400 Relay was also shattered as
McKenzie McNitt,
Jada Clark,
Gracelyn Peebles, and
Kaliyah Favors took down the record with a 4:11.83 time.
Outdoor Championships
The competition begins Friday with the Decathlon 100-Meter at noon while the Discus Throw also begins at noon. The Heptathlon will begin that day at 12:30 p.m. eastern. The Javelin will take place at 4:00 p.m. and the running events are scheduled for 7:20 p.m. with the women's 1500-Meter prelims followed by the men's prelims at 7:40 p.m.
Tickets for the championships will be available the day of the event at both spectator entrances. Day passes will be $15 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under or adults 65 and older. A weekend pass is $25 for all ages while children under the age of five get in for free. Horizon League students can get in for free with a valid student ID.
