Taylor Kondel ended the season opener with a career-low and junior
Ariel Chang was in the top 20 as the University of Detroit Mercy women's golf team finished up Central Michigan's A-Ga-Ming Invitational on Monday.
The event is being contested on the par 72, 6,010-yard A-Ga-Ming Golf Resort in Kewadin, Michigan.
Kondel tallied a 4-over and career-best 76 in the final round, knocking in 11 pars and two birdies, as she finished tied for 50th with a career-low 237 (79-82-76). She led the team with 32 total pars in the event.
Chang carded her second-straight 3-over 75, sharing 20th overall with a 226 (76-75-75), one shot away from her 54-hole best. Her final round saw her tally nine pars and four birdies as she was tied for ninth overall with a team-high nine birdies and was second on the squad with 30 pars in the tournament.
Senior
Sophia Ubaydi also had a career tournament, concluding with a career-best 243 (82-82-80) to tie for 58th. Her best round of the event saw her finish with 11 pars and a birdie.
Sophomore newcomer
Sydnie Redovich shared 65th with a 247 (85-82-80), while sophomore
Kyla Charlebois just missed her career low by one stroke as she was 68th with a 250 (85-85-80).
As a team, the Titans were 11th with a 953 (322-320-311), the 12th lowest 54-hole score in school history and the best score since the 947 at the 2022 Horizon League Championship.
The Titans will be back in action in two weeks as the team competes in Youngstown State's Roseann Schwartz Invitational from Sept. 23-24.
