DES PLAINES, Ill., (2-7-25) – Senior pitcher
Jordan Kavanagh went the distance, tossing 6.0 innings with seven strikeouts in the season opener as Detroit Mercy was on the wrong end of a pitcher's duel, losing to the host DePaul 1-0 in season-opening action of the DePaul Rosemont Dome Tournament on Friday evening.
The Blue Demons (1-1) scored the only run of the contest in the bottom of the sixth inning with an RBI triple and retired the Titans (0-1) in the top of the seventh to earn the victory.
Detroit Mercy's best scoring chance came in the top of the fourth, however the Titans grounded into a fielder's choice and failed to plate any runs across.

Despite the loss, the Titans still maintain a 5-4 advantage in the all-time series against DePaul.
