Mullins Collects Horizon League Field Athlete Of The Week Accolades

Sophomore Lyla Mullins was named the Horizon League Field Athlete of the Week.

INDIANAPOLIS (4/21/2026) -- The record keeps getting better for sophomore Lyla Mullins as the University of Detroit Mercy sophomore thrower was named the Under Armour Outdoor #HLTF Field Athlete Of The Week.

She is the first Titan female to earn the Field Athlete Of The Week since Micah Carey in the indoor 2023 campaign, and the first outdoor winner and thrower since Ashley Bayles in 2015.

Mullins won the shot put at Oakland's Elaine Leigh Track & Field Invitational by extending her own school record with a mark of 15.36 meters, up from her previous standard of 14.80m.

She was also 11th in the hammer (39.74m) and discus (32.00m).

Mullins will be back in action this week in the shot put as she is part of a group of Titans competing in the famous Drake Relays.
