The Titans set a school record in the 4x1,600 meter relay

DETROIT (4/24/2026) -- The Titans registered a pair of gold-medal performances and set a new school record as the University of Detroit Mercy women's track and field team competed in three different meets on Friday.

The women's 4x1,600 squad of graduate senior Nina Pizzo, senior Claire Hunt, and sophomores Kirsten Koss and Ana Lopez broke the school mark with a time of 21:03.11 for 11th.

The foursome of junior Kayla Wize, sophomores Audrey Williams and Olivia Velazquez, and freshman Imani Sharp placed 20th in the 4x100 in 48.47 and 24th in the 4x200 in 1:46.60, while sophomore Lyla Mullins took 21st in the shot put with a heave of 12.19 meters at Drake.

Hunt and Pizzo also did some double work, competing at the Kip Janvrin Open at nearby Simpson College. Pizzo was fifth in the 1,500 meters in a career-best 4:42.74, while Hunt ran 18:06.11 for 11th in the 5,000m.

At the Don Kleinow Memorial at Siena Heights, graduate senior Abby Winkle won the 400m clocking 57.19, while freshman Mia Seaton earned third in 1:00.41.

Freshman Abigail Mullings claimed the win in the triple jump with a career leap of 11.62m, fourth in the Titan record book. Junior Grace Steffes finished fourth in the shot put with a mark of 11.61m, ahead of freshman Ayla Bowers, who was sixth with a throw of 11.40m.

Freshman Haley Lipscomb tallied a 15.41 time for fifth in the 100-meter hurdles. Senior Jada Clark recorded a mark of 1.55m in the high jump for sixth, while junior Gabriela Gashaj finished sixth in the 400mH in 1:06.19.

The final day of the Drake Relays and the Kip Janvrin Open will be tomorrow.
