Box Score vs. Toledo

With the match tied at three points each, freshman Dustin Goldenberg (Bloomfield Hills, MI/West Bloomfield) held serve and broke Tariq Ismail to take the third set giving the Detroit Titans men's tennis team a 4-3 victory over visiting Youngstown State for its first win of the season. The Titans started the weekend with a 5-2 setback at Toledo on Saturday.

“It's great to get our first win in the new era of Detroit Titan Tennis,” said coach Grant Asher. “To come down to the last match with Dustin coming through was very exciting. We have a pretty young team who are very passionate about winning and getting better. We have to get back to practice and work on the things that we didn't do well today, and these student-athletes are excited about doing that. I feel we have some bigger wins ahead of us.”

Detroit (1-3, 1-0 HL) took an early 1-0 lead sweeping the doubles competition as the No. 1 team of junior Pjotrs Necajevs (Riga, Latvia/Herdera Vidusskola) and Goldenberg took out Steve D'Angelo and Robert Emig, 8-3.
