Day One Scoring
The Titan men's golfers hold down fourth place, three shots out of second, after Day One of the 25th annual Georgetown Intercollegiate.
Detroit shot 299 as a team to trail only 64th-ranked Washington State (285), Richmond (296) and UNC Greensboro (296). The first day was shorted to 18 holes due to wet conditions that had wiped out Sunday's scheduled practice round. DePaul (301) and Campbell (301) are UDM's closest pursuers.
Senior David Byrne led the Titans individually and stands fifth overall with an opening round of 72. Junior Britt Pronk was next in line with a 74, rallying from a front nine 41 to close with a 33 on the back side. Freshman Sheldon Keyte made his Titan debut a good one as he threw a 75 into the mix.
The final round of the tournament – the last on the schedule this fall for Detroit – will begin at 9:30 Tuesday morning at the Members Club at Four Streams in Beallsville, MD.
