Led by junior Pjotrs Necajevs ((Riga, Latvia/Herdera Vidusskola) and freshman Dustin Goldenberg (Bloomfield Hills, MI/West Bloomfield), the UDM men's tennis team won its third straight match as the Titans upended IPFW, 4-3, on Friday night at the Pine Ridge Racquet and Fitness Center.

The top Titan doubles tandem, Necajevs and Goldenberg started the Titans off with an 8-6 victory in team play. With an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles by freshmen Gino McCathney (Livonia, MI/Stevenson) and David Stabley (Utica, MI/Eisenhower), Detroit jumped on the Mastodons with the early doubles point that proved to be the match winner.

Necajevs and Goldenberg then posted two singles triumphs as Necajevs easily won his match 6-1, 6-3, while the rookie Goldenberg took his 7-6 (3), 6-0. Stabley then came up with a win at No. 4 singles, rebounding from a 6-1 loss in set one to take the next two 7-6 (4), 6-4.

Detroit will stay in Fort Wayne to take on St. Francis (PA) on Saturday. Match time is set for 2:00 p.m.
