The Detroit men's tennis team made it a sweep of Indiana as the Titans won their fourth straight match after capturing a 6-1 victory over St. Francis (PA) on Saturday afternoon at the Pine Ridge Racquet and Fitness Center in Fort Wayne, IN. UDM downed IPFW, 4-3, yesterday.
The Titans (5-4, 1-0 HL) won five of the six singles matches, all by way of a two set sweep. Freshman
Dustin Goldenberg (West Bloomfield, MI/West Bloomfield) made his first appearance of the season at No. 1, coming away with a 6-2, 6-2 win, while at No. 2, junior
Patrick Troy (Beverly Hills, MI/Brother Rice) cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
Freshman
David Stabley (Utica, MI/Eisenhower) earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 3, while fellow rookie
Nick Tolomei (Rochester, MI/Adams) took his match at No. 4, 6-2, 6-1. Making his first appearance of the dual season, freshman
Dean Masuda (Dearborn, MI/Dearborn) was victorious at No. 6, 6-1, 6-2.
UDM began the match by taking the point in doubles with a pair of wins. Goldenberg and junior
Pjotrs Necajevs (Riga, Latvia/Herdera Vidusskola ) posted an 8-1 triumph at No. 1, and Tolomei and Troy registered an 8-2 decision at No. 3.
The Titans will have an extra week off before they return to the court on Friday, Mar. 13, when UDM gets back into conference play against Wright State.
